non-human causes

Non-human processes or events that cause changes in Earth processes, which result in measurable changes in the Earth system through time. Often, these processes operate on timescales of tens of thousands to millions of years and do not explain the rapid global changes we are observing today. Events that cause rapid change are rare, but when they do happen, they often have catastrophic consequences throughout the Earth system.
